Biography

Tamás Sebestyén earned his Master’s degree in Economics at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Pécs in 2004. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Pécs (2011). Previously he worked as an analyst at the Hungarian National Development Office. From 2007 he has held academic positions at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Pécs first as assistant lecturer and from 2012 as assistant professor. From 2012 he is also affiliated with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in the MTA-PTE Innovation and Economic Growth Research Group. His main field of interest is macroeconomic modeling with a focus on the application of network theory and analysis in this area. His PhD thesis revealed the connection between economic performance and the underlying network structures. He is also dealing with regional aspects of innovation from a network approach and agent based economic modeling. His teaching areas include Macroeconomics, Network Theory, International Economics and Simulation Methods.
