About the CIX point at PTE KTK
CIX point is a mandatory component for students in certain programs, in the BSc in Business Administration and Management. To graduate, students must typically collect 20 Compulsory International Experience points over the course of their studies. The goal is to push students beyond the classroom and into international environments, whether through physical travel or "internationalization at home."
How to earn them?
The faculty provides three different ways to earn these points.
Physical mobility (study or work abroad)
Faculty Internationalization Projects (FIP)
Internationalization at home
Now, let’s take a look at the details in these different options!
Physical Mobility
This is the most traditional way to earn points and often covers the requirement in one go (20 CIX). Students can choose to spend a full semester (5 months) at a partner university abroad with Erasmus+ or Pannónia scholarship. Find more information about Pannónia here. If you are not afraid to spend a whole year abroad (2 semesters) then the Double Degree program in Lyon is the one for you. Participating in programs with partners in France will give you experience, knowledge and also 20 CIX points. If you are thinking of completing your mandatory professional internship outside of Hungary, then the international internship is for you. Beside the work experience the maximum CIX points are achieved as well.
Faculty Internationalization Projects (FIP)
If you can’t or don’t want to travel abroad, have a look at these project-based alternatives which the faculty provides. Ohio International Consulting Program is about making a collaborative project with students from Ohio University. Simonyi Summer School and Hackathon are intensive international entrepreneurship programs. International Video Pitch Competition is about competing in global business presentation contests. It is essential to know that these don’t give you the maximum points so make sure that you join/apply to as many as possible.
Internationalization at home
For students who stay in Pécs points can also be earned through specific courses or international events. Specific English-taught courses which focus on global issues (e.g., Sustainability or Environmental Economics) may grant CIX points. Be careful, because these courses are not always associated with the same courses every semester. It depends on whether a partner university or an international lecturer is involved in the course during that semester. Participating in international events, like conferences, workshops or "International Weeks" hosted by PTE KTK gives you an opportunity to collect these points.
Tipps
You can check your CIX point status in Neptun (Exams à Final Exams or Administration à General Forms). Collecting all CIX points is a prerequisite for the final graduation exam. You cannot graduate without them. Therefore, don't leave the collection of these points until your final semester! Also, mobility spots and project seats are limited, so it's best to start earning them during your 3rd or 4th semester.
