prof. Dr. László Szerb
László Szerb graduated from the Faculty of Economics of JPTE in 1985. He received his doctorate from the same university in 1990. In 1994 he received his Ph.D. degree from the West Virginia University (USA). From 1985 to 1990, he has been assistant lecturer at the Department of Business Economics and Accounting at PTE. From 1990 to 1994 he was PhD student and Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of West Virginia. 1995-2011 he was Associate Professor and in 2007 he habilitated. Since 2011 he has been a full Professor. He received his Doctor of Science from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2012. From 2012 to 2015, he was the Director of the Institute of Economics, and from 2015 to 2023, he was the Director of the Institute of Quantitative Management. From 2021, he is Head of the Doctoral School of Regional Politics and Economics. He was the supervisor of 12 PhD students. He currently teaches entrepreneurship and research methodology in PhD programmes. He has published widely internationally and nationally. His interests and research focus on small firms and entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems. As a leader or member, he has been involved in several international and domestic research projects. He is editor of the Journal of Small Business Economics.
