Interview with Dr. Subhendu Patnaik from Woxsen University

2022. September 29. 14:02

It's a great pleasure for us that Dr. Subhendu Patnaik, Professor of Woxsen University visited our Faculty this week. We interviewed him about his experiences in Hungary and his work.

Where are you from, and why are you here today in Pécs?

I am from Woxsen University, which is located in Hyderabad, Telengana, India. I’m here because of the Faculty's exchange programme and I am teaching a course, called ’Strategic Human Resource Management’. Few colleagues of UPFBE has been visiting our University in India two weeks ago and now I’m here in exchange.

What were your expectations about the Faculty and the country before coming to Hungary? Were these conceptions fulfilled?

I am very happy to be here. I had no expectations but I would like to highlight some things I’ve noticed so far. I think everything is beautiful here: the Faculty, the buildings. The students are also helpful and the class I’ve attended earlier today was very interactive and Professor Zsófia Ásványi was very cooperative. I had some mindful interactions with international students and altogether it’s a great experience for me.

Please tell us a little about Woxsen University.

Woxsen is a relatively new University, which grows fast. We have big ambitions and have a lot of international relations. We have faculty from all over the world and our student community grows larger day by day.

What is your research area and what courses do you teach at Woxsen?

My research area is ’Positive Organisational Behaviour’ where we try to understand how positivity in work affects on workers like how does it increase job satisfaction, or how does it reduce stress. I also publish in journals. About my classes: I teach ’Organisational Behaviour’ to MSc students and BSc students, too. I also teach ’Human Resource Management’.

How do you like the students and colleagues here, and how do you like our city?

Everything and everybody is amazing. The colleagues are very cooperative (special thanks to Zsófia Ásványi, Krisztián Szűcs and Zsolt Bedő). I feel like students here are particularly intelligent and they are engaging in tasks, I was happy that I could interact with them, they asked very important questions which we discussed in class. All in all the city is not just beautiful but very clean.
