I remember my first Monday morning at the Faculty of Business and Economics. I walked in with a black tote bag, an overstimulated brain, and a year's worth of expectations. That moment was defining because it represented my first major educational choice. Studying abroad had been a dream built on hope, prayer, tears, and endless research—all because I was determined to pursue something I loved. An educational journey can feel repetitive, and following a path chosen by someone else only makes it harder. So, let me explain why the BSc in Business Administration and Management was the perfect choice for me.
This three-and-a-half-year program exposes you to the vast world of business, including Economics, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Accounting, and Human Resource Management. I loved this setup because it allowed me to explore and discover my strengths. Each year combines mandatory core courses with electives, giving me the chance to learn widely. So far, I've studied Entrepreneurship, Consulting, Competency Development, and a personal favourite—the Business Simulation workshop, where we were competing in running a virtual ski resort. This diversity is invaluable; it has prepared me for various future industries that I would wish to delve into. The freedom even extends beyond business: you can take unique electives from other faculties, like Chinese Language, Wine Culture, or Breakdancing.
The teaching style varies by professor—some lectures are intense, others are casual, many are a blend. What I found most useful were the weekly seminar and practice sessions. Here, the theoretical content from lectures is broken down with practical examples and real-life scenarios, which greatly deepened my understanding. In the seminars, the lecturers also split students into smaller groups where peer-to-peer learning is enhanced. The professors use diverse teaching approaches to keep the courses engaging. As someone who thrives on learning, I truly appreciate their personalised input and commitment to helping us get the most from our studies.
So, if you’ve always been drawn to business but aren’t quite sure where you fit in, this program is made for you. It may not necessarily set you up on the perfect career path, but it is certainly a journey of learning and discovery.
