It is our pleasure to welcome you to the website of the University of Pécs, Faculty of Business and Economics (UPFBE). Whether you have come here with a particular purpose in mind or simply happened upon us while browsing, there are a few things about our School that are well worth knowing.

In 1970, a small group of experienced professors and barely a dozen enthusiastic young researchers believed that the words attributed to King Louis the Great in 1367 remained just as relevant towards the end of the twentieth century: “Pécs is particularly well suited to spreading the seeds of knowledge.” With this conviction, they set about establishing the Faculty of Business and Economics. More than half a century has since demonstrated how well founded their ambition was. Today, the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Pécs ranks among Hungary’s leading institutions of business and economics education and holds prestigious international accreditations that remain rare among Hungarian institutions, positioning UPFBE as a recognised and respected player in the international higher education landscape.

At our School, we recognise that providing high-quality theoretical education alone is no longer sufficient for a modern business school. One of our foremost priorities is therefore to ensure that our programmes are strongly practice-oriented, while also engaging our students in activities beyond the classroom that generate measurable societal impact and contribute to the sustainable development of our region and the wider community. Business idea competitions, reverse career fairs, guest lectures delivered by corporate professionals, and real-life business projects and case studies embedded in our courses are just some of the ways in which we pursue this objective together with our corporate partners.

We are proud that our graduates thrive in both Hungarian and international workplaces, while those choosing an academic career successfully gain admission to doctoral programmes at reputable universities abroad. UPFBE alumni can regularly be found in senior positions at multinational corporations and at the helm of their own businesses and major enterprises, both in Hungary and internationally. Our alumni network continues to grow rapidly. Our graduates are proud of having earned their degrees here and regularly return to the School as professional partners and colleagues, contributing to a wide range of valuable collaborations.

All this comes with the distinctive Mediterranean atmosphere of Pécs, the extensive range of complementary educational opportunities offered by the other faculties of the University of Pécs, and the extraordinarily rich cultural life for which the city is renowned.
