This is what happened in the Corporate Talk sessions!

2022. April 25. 21:48

We had a great time at our Corporate Talk events, and have summarised the most important moments of the discussions!

“The market has outperformed”

First of all, Szabolcs Tóth, regional marketing director of Terrán Tetőcserép Gyártó Ltd., asked his guests about the current situation of media and event management.

Guests of Szabolcs were

  • Zsolt Pető, owner of Euroshow Event Management Ltd., and
  • Erika Csikesz, Sales Director of TV2 Média Group Zrt

It turned out that self-made Hungarian TV shows have their own charm, attracting a wide audience to watch TV every day. TV2’s expert believes that the TV industry is not dying at all, as most people have periods in their lives – such as having children – when they return to their screens.

The events market, on the other hand, has seen a huge decline. What was possible has been done online, but that doesn’t bring back the magic of face-to-face presence.

According to the owner of Euroshow, the first thing to return to is holding outdoor events, with vaccination cards expected to be in high demand in the market.

In the future, hybrid or fully online solutions will remain for some types of events. This will also be the case for scientific conferences.

“30% of service providers will not open in the first 2-3 months after opening”

At the second Corporate Talk, Ferenc Schmidt, South Transdanubian regional manager of the Association of Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants, asked guests from different areas of tourism about the changes caused by the pandemic.

Also discussed was the role of human relations and human resources in the industry.

Feri’s guests were

  • Zoltán Omacht, head of the DDNP (Danube-Dráva National Park), owner of the Erdőfi Manor guesthouse,
  • Árpád Csobota-Kis, owner and CEO of Pearl Marketing and Management, and
  • Zsolt Meszlényi, CEO of Training Universe

This situation has provided the final impetus for retirement in the industry, and labour migration out from the sector is also causing difficulties.

It will be difficult to reopen, one has to suddenly switch from zero to maximum capacity, and workers need strong motivation. The CEO of Training Universe highlighted an important correlation:

“The value of a company is the people who run it. Those who manage their staff well will win the race.”

According to the Danube-Dráva National Park’s district manager, ecotourism is expanding, for which an adequate human workforce is essential. We are talking about a narrow segment, so there is a limit to growth, but we will not reach it soon...

According to Training Universe, there is no need to fear that human resources in tourism will be replaced by machines, as the coming generation will still need personal contacts.

The owner and CEO of Pearl Marketing and Management sees the future of the tourism sector as follows:

  • services are becoming increasingly robotised and processes are automated
  • the masses will be served by robots
  • hotels operated by human resources will be available only to the privileged

“The tighter the framework, the more creative you have to be”

For our last discussion, Gabriella Karnis, head of retail relations in Southwest Hungary at Philip Morris Hungary Ltd. invited her colleagues with more than a decade of experience:

  • Emese Németh, “Try and Buy” manager of Philip Morris Hungary Ltd., and
  • Tamás Vizi, national head of external commercial relations of Philip Morris Hungary Ltd.

It gave us an insight into the tobacco industry and showed us that it is possible to get close to consumers without marketing; you just have to be creative. However, it is important to clarify what exactly we mean by marketing in this context.

In this specific industry, retailers, who are in direct contact with customers, have a key role to play and therefore need to be educated about the products. Quality is the primary competitive advantage.

Special thanks to our experts for bringing us such great topics!
