What to eat near PTE KTK?

Being a business student is a hungry job. Between macroeconomics and marketing lectures, we need fuel. As future-to-be managers and financial experts we know that lunch menus are way cheaper options than ordering in or eating out in fast food restaurants or fancier ones. I would like to give you some options to choose from, to fit into your student budget. It is essential to mention that maintaining a healthy diet as a student is important, but it can also be challenging. Read more about it here

On-campus option

For those 15-minute breaks when you barely have time to breathe, the Campus Caffé might be the best option for you. It’s a convenient spot for a quick bite, offering a variety of sandwiches, pastries, and coffees. Whether you need a light meal or a caffeine boost before your next seminar, it’s the go-to place to recharge and refuel.

Tips on Daily Menu

In Hungary a Daily Menu (Napi menü) usually consist of a soup and a main course for a fixed, discounted price. Many restaurants post their Heti Menü (Weekly Menu) on Facebook every Monday morning. If you decide to visit one of these places do not forget to bring your student ID with you, just in case. Some places near the university offer a 10% discount for students, even on non-menu items! Now, let me give you a few places to choose from.

This restaurant is highly efficient thanks to its self-service system. Don’t be intimidated by the long line— it moves quickly and smoothly. It also offers one of the widest menu selections in the city, including Standard, Fitness, Vegetarian, and even the indulgent “Hedonist” option. Pro tip: Be sure to try their signature Golden Dumplings (aranygaluska) for dessert — they’re a must-try!

Fiáker is an old-school Hungarian tavern with heavy wooden tables and even heavier portions. It’s famous for being the best "bang for your buck." If you are a big eater, this is your place. Their daily menu is one of the most stable deals in town. It’s the perfect place for a "slow lunch" on Fridays when you don't have a 2 PM seminar.

Since most of the students spend a lot of time in the Knowledge Centre anyway, Teleky is a must-mention. This place is bright, airy and full of students with laptops. Their "Premium Menu" is a bit pricier, but the quality is noticeably higher. It’s the place you go when you want a "treat yourself" lunch after a successful exam.

This bistro is located within the Zsolnay Quarter itself. They offer two daily menus (one usually vegetarian) and "Paleo" options for the health-conscious business student. It’s impossible not to mention the breathtaking view you can enjoy alongside your meal — the scenery is just as impressive as the food itself.

This place is essential for students who want a "proper" restaurant experience without the tourist trap prices. It’s faster than a full sit-down dinner but feels more like a "real meal" than a quick canteen bite. Also, it has a great terrace in the spring and autumn, making it the best spot for people-watching between macroeconomics and accounting.

This restaurant is located on Király street, next to Főtér Bistro & Bar. You choose this place when you want to feel like a successful CEO instead of a broke student. I think that it’s a "gourmet" version of the Aranygaluska experience.

Closing thoughts

Finding the perfect menu is more than just satisfying hunger, it’s a strategic part of your business studies. Wherever you go, remember: a well-fed brain calculates a much better return on investment than an empty one. Enjoy your meal, or as we say in Hungarian: Étvágyat!
