András Rideg is an economist (B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., habil.), environmental engineer (B.Sc.), and innovation manager. He spent several years in the private sector in roles ranging from intern and employee to middle manager, primarily in the fields of cluster management, grant and proposal writing, and project management. He has also gained entrepreneurial experience. Since 2012, he has been active in higher education and has developed a broad teaching portfolio in Hungarian and English, across full-time and part-time programmes, at higher education vocational, bachelor’s and master’s levels, as well as in specialised postgraduate programmes. His main teaching areas include foundational and integrative courses in business and economics, introductory and specialised management courses, and foundational finance courses. His key courses include Business Economics; Fundamentals of Business and Economics; Strategic and Business Planning; Small Business Management; Analysis of Complex Business Case Studies; and Corporate Finance. He is the author or co-author of nearly three dozen peer-reviewed journal articles published in Hungarian and international outlets, and has delivered more than seventy major conference presentations in Hungarian and English. His research focuses on the large-sample empirical analysis of SME competitiveness from a resource- and capability-based view (RBV), SMEs’ financial performance from the owners’ perspective, and firm-level innovation activity among SMEs, as well as the interrelationships among these areas. His research interests also include literature-based analyses of the relationship between classical and modern strategy theories. He currently serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Decision Science and Entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Pécs; a researcher at the Small and Medium Enterprise Competitiveness Research Centre, the Regional Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Center, and the Global Competitiveness Project; a member of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Pécs; a member of the Faculty Grants and Scholarships Committee; a mentor at the Competence and Career Centre / Career Point; and an honorary member of the Janus Pannonius College for Advanced Studies in Economics.
