An internship is more than just an obligation on your way to graduation. It is your first real step toward building a professional career. To ensure that paperwork doesn't overwhelm you, it’s essential to understand the process. The internship is a low-risk environment to test your theoretical knowledge in a high-reward setting.
Eligibility
BSc students: You can start your internship after your 6th semester, provided you have completed at least 155 credits.
FOKSZ students: You are eligible after the 4th semester, with at least 75 completed credits.
Step-by-step process
Finding a Placement: Look for a host organization (company, bank or NGO) where you can perform tasks relevant to your field of study.
Letter of Acceptance: Once you’ve secured a spot, the host company must fill out and sign a formal acceptance letter.
The Agreement: A cooperation agreement must be established between the Faculty and the company (only if such an agreement is not already in place).
The Internship: Complete the required hours. Depending on your major, this is usually 400 hours or 12–14 weeks.
Report and Certification: At the end of the period, the employer certifies your completion, and you must submit a professional internship report.
Your Digital Assistant: OpenUP
OpenUP is PTE KTK’s custom-developed portal designed to connect students with the labor market. It is not just a job board, it is the primary hub for managing your internship administration.
Why use OpenUP?
Companies advertising here specifically look for PTE KTK students and understand our curriculum. Since many partner companies (e.g., ALDI, Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions, OTP, EY) already have framework agreements with the Faculty, the administrative burden is significantly lower. Also, you can see established partners where previous students have already paved the way.
Firstly, start by uploading your data and a professional CV. This allows companies to find you via "headhunting" mode. Explore your opportunities, under the "Opportunities” menu, where you’ll find companies actively seeking KTK talent. If you have found an appealing opportunity, apply for the position with just a few clicks directly through the portal. Check the "Announcements" regularly for the latest templates and mandatory forms. Exclusive KTK-only offers often appear here long before they hit major job portals. Treat your OpenUP profile as your digital business card. In a competitive job market, a complete profile with a professional photo and a clear summary of your skills can make you stand out to recruiters before you even send an application.
Pay attention to deadlines: Don't be the student who forgets the dates! Internship administration has strict deadlines (e.g., announcing your placement at the start of the semester). Don't leave it to the last minute.
Choose Relevance: Pick a place that truly interests you. A KTK degree combined with experience at a prestigious multinational or an exciting startup can significantly boost your starting salary.
Focus on Networking: The colleagues you meet today could be your future mentors, references, or even bosses.
