Dr. István Bessenyei

György István Bessenyei obtained a programming mathematics diploma in 1984 at József Attila University in Szeged, and an economics degree in 1992 at the Janus Pannonius University Faculty of Economics in Pécs. He obtained a university doctorate in 1994 and a Ph.D. degree in 2003 at the Faculty of Economics of PTE. He obtained his habilitation in 2011. He has been working at the Faculty of Economics since 1985, initially as a computer programmer, then as a teaching assistant and assistant professor, and since 2003 as a university associate professor. His research area is dynamic economics, business cycle and growth models. Between 2010 and 2023, he was the editor-in-chief of the mathematical economics journal Szigma, and is currently a magazine editor at the paper. Since 2003, he has been a regular guest lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies of Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj. He currently teaches Macroeconomics at our faculty. His textbook "Basic Theories of Economic Growth" was published in 1995, followed in 2007 by his book "New Theories of Macroeconomics and Macroeconomic Policy". In 2019, the Hungarian Economic Modeling Society recognized his work with the Béla Krekó award.
