SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS – BACHELOR'S

Step 1: How to apply for DIASPORA Scholarship

  1. FIND YOUR CHOSEN PROGRAMME - November – December

You need to read and understand all details of the Call for Application 2023-2024 and prepare all application documents. Furthermore, you must read the guide of Tempus Public Foundation to the online application system.

  1. RECOMMENDATION LETTER - November – December

You need to get in touch with the local Hungarian diaspora organization or the Hungarian Diplomatic Representation of their country to receive a recommendation letter

  1. REGISTER AND UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTS

Applications are processed in an online application system. You can browse the universities and colleges, but only two choices are allowed. Make sure that your chosen programmes are relevant to the field of your studies. After you make your choices, you must ensure you upload all the required documents for each programme you choose.

Suppose you do not obtain some of the mentioned documents until the application deadline. In that case, you must upload a signed declaration stating that you will receive and upload the missing document(s) by the 1st of August.

  1. SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION BY THE DEADLINE

Your application must be submitted by the deadline. Please ensure all required documents are attached, and all the required fields are filled out correctly before submitting your application.

  1. TECHNICAL CHECK – UNTIL THE MIDDLE OF FEBRUARY

Applications only saved in the online system but not submitted will be automatically rejected. The applications successfully submitted in Tempus Public Foundation's online application system are technically checked first. Tempus Public Foundation does the technical check. During this step, we check the essential eligibility criteria, such as age, citizenship, and previous scholarships, upload the statement for an application and check if the applicant has applied for a scholarship type and study programme available within the programme's framework.

  1. VALIDATION OF RECOMMENDATIONS – FEBRUARY - MARCH

These eligible and successfully submitted applications are forwarded to the Hungarian Diplomatic Representations for validation. At this stage, the recommendations are checked by the Hungarian Diplomatic Representation of the respective territory if they have been issued by an existing diaspora organization or a Hungarian Diplomatic Representations

  1. SUBMITTING MEDICAL CERTIFICATE

The applicants nominated by the Sending Partners must submit a scanned copy of a medical certificate of satisfactory health condition.

  1. EVALUATION OF MOTIVATION LETTERS

The motivation letters are evaluated in parallel with the institutional entrance examination. Independent experts of the Tempus Public Foundation will evaluate the motivation letter.

 

Step 2: ENTRANCE EXAMS AT OUR SCHOOL – APRIL - MAY

  1. Evaluation

After the nomination process, the uploaded materials are evaluated, and the decision is made on whether the applicant is eligible. The document evaluation is based on a point system; please see the details here. You must fulfil all the mentioned criteria to participate in the admission interview. If you do not meet one of the requirements, the application must be rejected; you will receive a "Formally failed" status.

  1. Mathematics test

You must complete a Mathematics test as it is admission criteria. The result will be graded on a 0-10 point scale. The test will be held online. Your application must be rejected if you are not attending the test or the result is below 50%. You can read more about it here.

  1. Admission interview

An oral interview (online) is scheduled with eligible applicants and carried out by a committee. The qualified applicant receives a guideline email approximately 5-7 days before the date of the admission interview. Shortly after, the applicant gets the actual MS Teams invitation with the link to join the meeting at the given time.

The interview takes approximately 10 minutes, and the committee will ask you about your background, future plans and motivation to choose us. About 10 minutes before your scheduled interview time, you will receive a short business-related article in an email to the address you provided during the application. During the interview, you will be asked to summarize what you read in a few sentences, and the committee will have a couple of questions regarding its content.

  1.  Admission decision

The admission committee proposes, but the decision is made by the Head of the programme within a maximum of two weeks from the date of the interview, taking into account the applicant's score and the capacity of the training programme applied for.

  1. Offers

If you successfully pass the document evaluation and the admission interview and upload all the required documents, you will receive an "Acceptable" offer.

If you successfully passed the document evaluation and the admission interview but have some missing documents, you will receive a "Conditionally acceptable" offer. In this case, you will be given a certain amount of time to submit the missing documents. After this is done, you will receive the "Acceptable" offer.

If you cannot pass the admission interview, you will receive a "Failed" status, which means the application is rejected.

 

Step 3: allocations, Nomination list, Scholarship decision – JUNE - JULY

It is essential to highlight that we only make the admission decision. Tempus Public Foundation (TPF) and Diaspora Scholarship Committee (DSC) will make the final decision about the scholarship.

The allocation of the applicants and the selection of Scholarship Holders depend on the allocation principles such as the preference order of the selected study programmes, the capacity (minimum and maximum number of available places) of the university's specific study programme, the examination results (maximum 100 points) given by the Host Institutions and the results of the examination of the motivation letter.

Tempus Public Foundation forwards the allocation list of the best applicants to the Diaspora Scholarship Committee. The committee's task is to select those applicants whose study goals are most likely linked with the interest of the respective local Hungarian diaspora community.

If you receive the "Scholarship awarded" offer, you only need to confirm/accept the offer and wait for the Letter of Acceptance and Letter of Award.

If you receive the "Conditionally awarded" offer, you have a missing document, which you must upload by the 1st of August. If this is done, you become "Scholarship awarded". You only need to confirm/accept the offer and wait for the Letter of Acceptance and Letter of Award.

 

Step 4: Arranging visa and arriving in Pécs

Applying for a visa is entirely your responsibility. As all the immigration-related tasks belong to the National Directorate–General for Aliens Policing, we do not affect the process.

You must arrive in Pécs by the start of the semester (beginning of September). Before the official semester starts, you will receive information about the to-dos; please, read it carefully.

The document evaluation is based on a point system; please see the details here. You must fulfil all the mentioned criteria to participate in the admission interview. If you do not meet one of the requirements, the application must be rejected; you will receive a "Formally failed" status.

The interview takes approximately 15 minutes, and the committee will ask about your background, plans and motivation to choose us. You will need to talk about your previous studies and field of interest. You have to talk about your business idea if any.

The committee might ask you additional questions; no previously set list exists.
