GEOINNO 2026

We are honored and proud to be part of the GEOINNO community. It was inspiring to meet outstanding researchers in the field and to engage in high-quality scientific discussions. The GEOINNO 2026 was excellent both academically and socially, making it a truly memorable experience. See you in 2028, Porto!

The first day of the hashtaggeoinno2026 started with a keynote by Beata Javorcik, who presented a series of very exciting papers on the effects of hashtagsanctions on exports to Russia. Later in the day, we also co-organized a session where we presented two of our own research projects:

Dual economies: the barrier to long-term convergence in productive efficiency
  • We have shown how persistent dual economic structures (where foreign multinationals and domestically owned companies operate separately) can hinder long-term convergence and productivity improvements.
Enhancing export performance of domestic firms through supplier connections to multinational enterprises
  • We have shown that the export performance of domestic companies can be significantly strengthened if they are connected to multinational companies as suppliers.

We received very useful feedback, and there was a great discussion across all presentations, with several interesting and thought-provoking papers.

On the second day, Fleming’s keynote was particularly fascinating, highlighting how strongly localized technology is. His work shows that when a patent has multiple co-authors and one of them passes away, the patent tends to be cited much more frequently in the region of the surviving co-author than in the region of the other author.
