Maximize your student status: A deep dive into Diverzum

2026. április 20. 09:34

It is known that university years are some of the best times of our lives, but let’s be honest, they are often the most expensive ones as well. Anyone who has been young knows the math: tuition, housing, coffee (lots of coffee) and of course, a social life that somehow always peaks just when your balance is approaching zero. In this environment, Diverzum burst onto the scene, a Hungarian-developed startup that has fundamentally rewritten everything we previously thought about student discounts.

Problems with the old way

In the past, these discounts were limited to cheaper movie tickets or reduced fares on buses, provided you showed your student ID with a valid sticker. But what about online shopping? What about tech gadgets, apparel or food delivery? Most global brands offer discounts on an international level but accessing them from Hungary was often difficult or simply unknown. This service filled that gap, building a digital bridge between conscious Hungarian youth and their favourite brands.

What is Diverzum and how does it work?

This system is not just a simple coupon site; it is an exclusive student discount hub. The core idea is to have a verified membership.

The Registration Process:

  1. Sign-up: Provide your basic information.

  1. Verification: This is the most important step! Currently, there are two main ways to prove your student status. One option is EduID (Central Authentication). If your university or college supports EduID (the University of Pécs, for example, does), you simply log in with your institutional credentials. In this case, no photos or selfies are required, the system immediately recognizes your legal status. The other option is the "old-school" manual upload. If your school does not have EduID or it isn’t working for some reason, you must upload a photo of your student ID or a verification of your student status. In some cases, a selfie may be required to confirm the authenticity of these documents.

  1. Browse and Shop: You can see partners organized by category. If you like something, you generate a unique code to paste at the webshop checkout or show the app in a physical store.

Can International Students Access It?

This system is not just for locals; it is accessible for international learners as well. Whether you are here on Erasmus or completing a full degree, you are entitled to these savings. You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play or visit the website. The interface is available in English, making navigation easy even if you don't speak Hungarian yet. As for verification, if you study at a Hungarian university (like PTE), use the EduID option with your Neptun code but if you have an international student card (ISIC), you can use the manual upload feature too. Please note that since the platform focuses on the Hungarian market, most discount codes are only valid for Hungarian versions of these webshops or physical stores located in our country.

More Than Just Saving Money

While it might seem like it’s just about cheaper shopping, Diverzum actually helps young people become financially aware. It teaches you that you don't have to pay full price if you have a little more information. It helps undergraduates access quality products even on a tight budget, so they don't have to give up on technological progress or a stylish appearance.

Closing Thoughts

This startup has proven that a student ID is not just a piece of plastic for cheaper train rides. It is a VIP pass to a community where brands value the next generation. If you haven’t registered yet, you are likely missing out on savings opportunity. Whether it’s a new pair of shoes, a tablet for notetaking or just a dinner with friends, it’s worth checking your options here first.
