iExpo from a Participant's Perspective

2026. május 21. 09:33

On April 29th, the  iExpo was held once again at our faculty and I had the opportunity to participate personally. It was an unexpectedly enjoyable experience that’s why I would encourage everyone to apply at least once to showcase their creativity.

What is iExpo?

Before diving into my experiences, let's clarify that iExpo is one of the most exciting events at the PTE Faculty of Business and Economics, often referred to as a "reverse job fair". The concept is that instead of companies setting up booths to recruit students, it is the other way around! Students present projects, research, and business ideas developed during the semester to establish direct contact with market players. Nearly 70 corporate experts and HR representatives (from companies like EY, Körber, or Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions) browse the stands. They evaluate the best ideas using UniCoins while listening to presentations. Beyond professional feedback and networking, participants can compete for significant scholarships and valuable special prizes.

Professional Categories

This year, 88 teams consisting of nearly 300 students from 7 different faculties presented ideas across five categories:

  • Business Solutions, Consulting, and Research: Focused on classic business models and market analysis.

  • Sustainability and Green Business Solutions: Projects centered on ESG, environmental protection, and a sustainable economy.

  • Community, Education, and Social Wellbeing: Focused on social responsibility and improving human connections.

  • Idea and Innovation I. – Digital and Technological Solutions: A space for "tech-guru" students involving AI, software, and digital development.

  • Idea and Innovation II. – Product, Service, and Experience Innovation: Focused on tangible products and novel service concepts.

Preparations

My team participated as part of a university course, but we are already planning to return next year with a new idea. Preparation involved strictly following the rules, such as using a 100x70 cm cardboard for the poster. Fortunately, the organizers gave us complete creative freedom. While some teams chose digital printing and others used a mix of printed images and handwritten text, our team decided to hand-draw and hand-write everything. It took a lot of time, but finishing it left us with a great sense of accomplishment.

"Showtime" and the Award Ceremony

Before the event started, we registered and chose a sympathetic spot in the designated area to display our poster. We had two hours to present our idea to the professional jury and collect as many UniCoins as possible. Our project was in connection with a company in Pécs to whose problems we came up with as innovative and effective solutions as possible. Sometimes our poster was so expressive that people gathered around us on their own, other times, we proactively grabbed their attention. The time flew by incredibly fast. The award ceremony took place at the Faculty of Law (ÁJK), where we were thrilled to receive 3rd place in the Business Solutions, Consulting, and Research category.

Closing Thoughts

I encourage everyone with an idea to dive deeper into it and show it to the experts! Besides the valuable prizes, the experience and professional insights you gain are truly worth it.
